Chiang Rai is Thailands Norther most Province and is part of the legendary Golden triangle where the borders of Thailand, Laos and Myanmar converge, an area which was very unsafe because of the drug smuggling across the borders. There is a natural border with laos which is the Mighty Mekong River and the border with Myanmar is the Mae sai River.
