Thailand has two main coasts, the Andaman coast on the west and the Gulf of Thailand on the east. There are many very popular holiday destinations on each coast, Phuket, Krabi(West), Koh Samui, Koh Tao, Koh Phangan(East). They both have many different fishing oportunitys. The big game scene is mostly concentrated around Phuket, but there are also chances to catch a trophy fish on the East coast. Fishing from the beach or coast can be done anywhere and there are many good oportunitys as long as you have a few bits of Tackle and some bait, both of which are not expensive.
The Mainiac Popper series are just about the finest handmade sea fishing lures in the world. They are practically oozing with quality and the makers have been descibed as having gold in thier hands. The craftsmanship and fine detail that is put into these Saltwater popper lures is an artform in itself and many have tried to copy them but without any success. They come in many colours, sizes, shapes and designs, all are handmade, shaped , painted and polished by a true artist. CLick here to have a look at the range of Maniacs availiable in the MEGA FISHING THAILAND Tackle shop.

Not the biggest catch in Thailand but still a world record none the less. This talented lady goes by the nickname of Lek and she was fishing with Jean Francois Helias and His fishing Adventures Thailand crew in the Gulf of Thailand. The previous world record for the dusky tail grouper (Epinephelis bleekeri) was held by her good friend Nid.
Thanks to the slack winds and gentle currents we enjoyed great fishing aboard the MV Trident all month. "Wreck Wednesdays" were running as normal to Unicorn and Torpedo wrecks, and we had two 4 day trips out looking for new wrecks.
Our first Similan area trip of the season had some good action for Wahoo, Yellowfin Tuna and Black Marlin. Judd Briggs and his friend booked "Gecko" for a 3 day Koh Rok trip, but after having really good weather for a couple of days and no waves, we decided to fish the sea mount 12 miles west of Similan Islands instead.
How abouta spot of Marlin Fishing then ? No not in Phuket the most famous place for Big Game Fishing in Thailand, but of the Island of Koh Tao on the Gulf of Thailand Coast. This small island is a Divers Paradise and is the smallest of the three islands ( Koh Tao, Koh Phangan, Koh Samui )off the east coast.
