Image Fishing with Thai fishing lures for pike on a cold very foggy December afternoon.
Back home now for  the holidays, we took some time out to test the Mango Minnow spinner Lure made by Mangofishing Ltd of Chiang Mai Thailand.

Here is a new tackle review, of the Mango Minnow. The river Arrow in Worcestershire is a small fairly fast flowing river on a good day and this was a pretty good day, yes it was very very foggy and cold but there was no wind or rain and the water was very clear and at at good level.

The lack of trees and bushes that would have been obstructing good pegs and making them inaccessible in the summer was a usefull bonus too.

So with waders on, stalking bag packed and flask secured we headed down stream with just a net, rod and some handmade Thai lures.

The aim of the day was to test out the Red, Green, Blue, Yellow Mango Minnow in the small pools and near to beds of dead reeds and weeds.

If we were lucky we would manage to catch a nice pike for the camera.

After a few casts on the top pegs where the water was deeper and ran slower the Mango Minnow was looking good, It could easily be kept under control and with carefull and acurate casting did not get snagged on near by trees.

The Mango H.B.T. was a bit to heavy at 40 Grms for this river so unless we came across a wider stretch we would have to stick with the Mango Revolution. The H.B.T. would be much better suited to a larger river or a lake.

After about an hour there was a bit of a swirl and waves near to the lure and it could have been a slight take, but after nothing happened again after a few casts, it was onwards to the next peg.

After working 75% of the  way down our length of bank we stopped at a fairly shallow area with a fast flow on the far bank then came around to a slack just behind a bed of Oliver reeds.

The lure was cast just beyond the fast flow so it could be retrieved into it , then be picked up by the current and taken out past the slack area and then back over the Olivers.

It was almost like lightning exploding out from invisibility as a hungry pike zoomed for our spinner, She grabbed it well and was soon under control and quickly landed.

A nice 4-5 lb pike, not bad for a two hour stroll down the bank.

She fell for the green Mango Revolution spinner lure. Its 12 Grams in weight and has a rear spinner blade. The Minnow body shape has a unique action and the holographic tape and big eyes make it stand out very well in the water.

These Mango Lures work, thats for sure!
