Not the biggest catch in Thailand but still a world record none the less. This talented lady goes by the nickname of Lek and she was fishing with Jean Francois Helias and His fishing Adventures Thailand crew in the Gulf of Thailand. The previous world record for the dusky tail grouper (Epinephelis bleekeri) was held by her good friend Nid.
The previous IGFA world record for this Thai fish species, the Dusky Tail grouper was 0.85 kg held since Feb. 2006 by "Nid" the Thai girlfriend of USA angler Richard Ashley.

Anongnart Sungwichien-Helias (lek) proudly shows her new record catch of a 0.94 kg Dusky tail grouper while on a fishing trip out into the gulf of siam and what a beauty, the fish is nice too!
If you are smart enough to book a fishing trip with Fishing Adventures Thailand ( you can do so by emailing tours@megafishingthailand.com ) you will no doubt meet Lek who usually takes care of the food and catering for fishing adventures clients. This however is not a 24 hour job so she also throws a line every now and then.
This catch is Leks 4th IGFA world record others include a Grey Eel Catfish, of 8.50Kg caught in the Nakorn Nayok river and a 0.60 Kg Four-Barred Tigerfish caught in the Bangpakong river.
If you would like a pop at an IGFA world record Thailand is definatley a great place to start.
