Mae Kuang Dam, Is a big reservoir, located 40 km northwest of Chiang Mai. This Large Dammed lake has beautifull breathtaking scenery surrounding it with misty mountains as a backdrop you are assured a wonderfull trip to this venue. The journey to the Reservoir in itself is amazing through winding mountain roads where you can pass through farmlands , jungles and rocky outcrops.
If you plan to make a trip to this venue the you will need a guide. The guide will have all the right tackle availiable for you as well as baits, lures and a boat.
The lake holds Tilapia (max.2,5kg); Rohu (max. 12kg), Small Scale Mud Carp (max. 6kg), Fearherback (max. 8kg), but the main attractive species are the Striped Snakehead (max. 5kg) and the Giant Snakehead (max.12kg).
These fierce Predators are really challenging to skilled Anglers, who like fishing with lures.
The best time for Snakeheads Is from the end of july to the end of September.
