You will be based at Dream lake fishing resort in Chiang Mai where you will enjoy the comforts and hospitality of Thailand aswell as amazing fishing using all kinds of baits and tactics including , Lures, Live/Dead baits, Method feeders, Ledgering and Float fishing. Its up to you!
Your own private air conditioned bungalow and fishing platform are there for you to use 24 hours a day, DVD/ MP3/VCD players are included in all rooms aswell as a very large selection of DVDS for your enjoyment , all at no extra cost.
Fishing for the highly prized Giant Siamese carp is a favourite with many local anglers aswell as visiting foreigners. The locals usually use very light tackle as they are not only targeting the Giant carp but also the much smaller tilapia which can be taken home or cooked right there in the resteraunt.If you hook up with one of these amazing fish you are guaranteed a big smile and a great photo to go with it.
There is an amazing array of species stocked in the waters of Dream lake fishing resort. Giant Siamese carp, Juliens Golden price carp, Small scale mud carp, Big head carp, Arapaima gigas, Alligator Gar, peacock bass, Giant snakehead, Striped snakehead, Giant Mekong Catfish, Red tail catfish, Tiger catfish and Walking catfish to name only a few.
Lure fishing is permitted at Dream lake and there are local Thai anglers who visit daily for a few casts. These guys are dedicated skilled anglers who get some amazing results with their chosen tactic.
The mighty Arapaima, Snakeheads and peacock bass are all favourites here for the lure angler. All these local boys are more than happy to assist you if need be or maybe you can just sit and share your love for this noble art with these guys.
Fly anglers will also note that there is a good chance of hooking up with some of these species, a great target is the giant gourami which will give you a great battle on rod and line. Fly fishing equipment is not availiable on site so it is suggested that you bring your own.
From your base at Dreamlake where you can fish 24 hours a day for a large range of native Thai and imported fish species at no extra cost, You will take days out to visit Paradise lake ( a great place to Battle with the Mighty Giant Mekong Catfish ) which is situated only a short drive from Dream lake.
The Mega fishing Chiang Mai packages also include a choice of single day and two day trips to some local dams and reservoirs, where you enjoy the wilder side of Thailands nature with breathtaking scenery and heart stopping fishing action. You will be fishing for the Giant Snakehead and Jungle Perch ( Hampala Barb), two famous predatory species which will attack you surface water lures with devastating speed and make for unforgetable fishing memories.
The Queen Sirikit dam is the largest reservoir in Thailand, It takes four hours to get there so this is a two day trip and you will stay overnight in a floating Bamboo house ,Thai style. The size of this resrvoir means that to get to the best fishing spots will take a couple of hours by long tail boat. While you are travelling to the most productive areas you have chance to relax and take in the beautifull scenery of Thailands wilderness.
Mae Kuang Dam is the closest destination to Chiang Mai and also a great place for Giant snakeheads. this dammed lake is medium sized and a day trip here is highly recommended for avid lure anglers.
Mae Ngat Dam is a little further from Dream lake fishing resort. The target species here is the Jungle perch also known as the Hampala barb. These fish do not grow as large in size as the Snakehead but are more common so you need to be permanently aware and ready to strike at any moment.
