AUGUST 7, 2006: 180 POUNDS OF GIANT MEKONG CATFISH CAUGHT BY UK ANGLER, MICHAEL WARDS!

Fishing Adventures Thailand client, Michael Wards, from Southern England, who booked us for 4 days, and whom we started to guide on Aug. 7, 2006, at Bung Sam Lan Lake, scored big time on his very first day with the outstanding catch of a 82 kilos (180 pounders) Mekong giant catfish. For the anecdote, it is Michael's very first trip fishing abroad, and he choose Thailand to do so. Perfect choice, my good man! If the 82 kg (180lb) Mekong giant catfish had not entangled his line around structures, requiring then the help of my pro guides crew to not lose the fish on a broken line, that 180 pounders would have broke big time the current 63 kilos IGFA All Tackle world record, held since Feb. 2004, by another of our UK clients, Richard Ainsworth. But again, due to the fact that my team of guides had to cut the angler's line to free its entangled part, and to tie it again to have him resuming the fight, IGFA rules were broken. Therefore Michael Wards' record size catch cannot qualify for a new IGFA All Tackle world record. This Monster Mekong giant catfish is our 12th catch breaking the current 63 kg IGFA record but not qualifying for the same reason mentioned above. But I am still confident that some of these days, one of our clients will finally success breaking that 63 kg record. On the other hand, Michael's 82 kg catch is our 2d best catch ever for the Mekong giant catfish species. Our best catch ever is still up to today the 85 kg caught in Aug. 2004, by Singaporean angler, Denis Tang. Third best catch being a 80 kilos landed by Japanese Norihiro Murakami, in March 2003.
AUGUST 8, 2006: 105 POUNDERS SIAMESE GIANT CARP CAUGHT BY UK ANGLER, MICHAEL WARDS! Now that's what we got to call a lucky angler!
 Michael Wards & 48 kilos Siamese giant carp - Aug 8th 2006 Michael Wards did it again the next day, catching this time on Aug. 8 a lovely specimen of the rare and elusive Catlocarpio siamensis or Siamese Giant Carp, the mother of all carp species. His catch weighted on certified scales was 48 kilos. What an exceptional achievement for an angler to add to his catches record two catches of a lifetime, this in only two days fishing in a row!
