Recently while fishing in Bangkok Kevin Simpson, a young lad of 27 years old from the Sheffield area in the UK, hooked up and landed a Mekong giant catfish weighted on certified scales at 80.50 kg.
The young lad fighting that cat had only experience with Mequinenza wells. Also he and his dad Garry who was also fishing the at the same time are mainly into match fishing. ![]() While doing a bit of fishing in Bangkok Young Kevin Simpson landed an 80kg Giant Mekong catfish. It would have been nice setting a new IGFA world record for the Mekong cat since the brand new 80lb Power Pro braided line being used on the Shimano Baitrunner 6500 reels was a recent gift from Power Pro, Fishing Adventures Thailand's main sponsor. It would have been a nice way to thank the company management for their kindness! Three UK friends who work in Hong Kong (they're all in the Police force there) and fish with Fishing Adventures Thailand 2/3 times a year scored some very nice catches too. ![]() Bangkok fishing fun at Bungsamlan fishing park. One lad caught a 16 kilo Siamese giant carp, and three Giant catfish weighing respectively 35 kg, 40 kg and 46 kg. Another caught a 13 kilo Siamese giant carp. And the third one lost a big mama carp which was unhooked. Jean-Francois caught his very first Catla catla, a relative of the Catlocarpio siamensis from India. It was a juvenile. ![]() Jean-Francois Helias showing a catch of a new species for him the Catla Catla which is a relative of the Giant Siamese carp. Nice good looking carp, isn't it? |
