Your own action packed day in Thailand fishing experience starts at 06.30am sharp, we will pick you up from your hotel/resort. After a 2 hour or so drive (depends on pickup location) by private van you will arrive at the Cha Am specimen lake. We meet our local guide and start fishing right away.

TARGET SPECIES: Main targets are Giant Siamese carp (Catlocarpio siamensis) which is the biggest of the carp family and grows to well over 50kg (110lbs) in this lake. The Giant Mekong catfish (Pangasianodon gigas) which is the largest catfish and largest freshwater fish in the world grows over 100kg (220lb). The Arapaima (Arapaima gigas) grows over 100kg (220lb) in this specimen lake.

There are many other interesting exotic fish species include: Striped catfish (Pangasius hypopthalmus), Spotted featherback (Chitala chitala), Striped snakehead (Channa striata), Giant snakehead (Channa micropeltes), Gunther's walking catfish (Clarias batrachus), Big head carp (Hypophthalmichthys nobilis), Giant gourami (Osphronemus goramy), Chao phrya catfish (Pangasius sanitwongsei), Thai Redtail catfish (Hemibagrus wyckioides), Redtail catfish (Phractocephalus hemioliopterus), Tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum), Tiger catfish (Pseudoplatystoma tigrinum), Red bellied pacu (Colossoma bidens) and the Alligator gar (Atractosteus spatula).

Target species Arapaima (Arapaima gigas) are one of the most famous imported species to Thailands lakes and very popular with visiting anglers. Technique to catch the arapaima in teh specimen lake is live and dead baits, usually local farmed tilapia or smaller sized mackerel types.

FISHING METHODS: We are fishing here with two different methods. For Giant Siamese carp and mekong catfish we use bread and rice flour mix around a method feeder. For arapaima and other predatory species we use dead and live baits either local caught bait or small saltwater species available from the local market.

FACILITYS: The lake is set in the grounds of a resort with nice gardens, there is a swimming pool available for guests use. There is a restaurant service a wide range of Thai and Western foods at very reasonable prices. Food and drinks can be delivered to you at your fishing area. For two day trips there are bungalows and rooms available lakeside for an overnight stay.
