After the big success of our previous fishing expeditions in the Golden Triangle for mahseer species, we are now able to offer a fully guided experience of the most extreme lure fishing that Thailand can offer!
Target species - Thai Mahseer (Tor tambroides) are known to be up to 25kg.
Target species - Burmese trout (Raiamas guttatus) are a rare catch and great fun on light tackle.
Target species - Stracheyi mahseer (Neolissochilus stracheyi).
Target species - The Goonch catfish.
On our first day, we will reach by four wheels pick-up truck the furthest fishable location upstream on the river, located at about 25 kms from the national park headquarters. Then every day we will travel to fish a different part of the river, staying at different camps for the night. We have a team of 4 rangers to take care of all the logistics for us. your Thai pro guides will be assisting and looking after anglers daily for the fishing part of the trip. The 4 rangers are old friends of us whom we know well. You’ll be in the best hands in hill tribes territory.
Each location at the river that we will fish for the 4 days is protected; fishing them is prohibited all year long. We pay both the authorities of the park and each village to get the authorization to fish them. They know our respect for nature and the fact we only practice catch and release.
Some of the biggest thai mahseer (tor tambroides) captured through the years were over 25 kilos (the current IGFA world record for that specie is only 12.5 kg). We previously had one well over 4.00 kilo caught on a metal spoon by one of our Malaysian clients. That very kind of fishing is – the most exciting here in Thailand. Wild scenery is breathtaking, that river is absolutely pristine, fish are numerous and for some have never seen a lure. Tough to find a better location for extreme lure fishing!
ITINERARY:
- Day 1: Early morning domestic flight (around 7.45am) from Bangkok airport to Chiang Mai airport. Transfer by private minibus to our destination in the Golden Triangle Mountains (5 hours drive). Overnight camping at our base camp.
- Day 2: Full day of lure fishing. Overnight camping at our base camp.
- Day 3: Full day of lure fishing. Overnight camping at our base camp.
- Day 4: Full day of lure fishing. Overnight camping at our base camp.
- Day 5: Full day of lure fishing. Afternoon transfer by 4WD to your hotel. Overnight in single room in the best hotel in the area.
- Day 6: Early morning transfer by private minibus to Chiang Mai. Visit local handicraft markets before taking your late afternoon flight back to Bangkok.
Note: single-angler bookings are available on request — operating costs for a solo expedition are high, so we quote these individually.
Snakehead Fishing Adventure

Giant Carp / Catfish Fishing
Daily guided carp fishing trip to the NEW Bungsamran lake in Bangkok. There are no blank fishing days at Bungsamran fishing park, if you need to, just ask us about the Mega Fishing Thailand no catfish catch guarantee.
Predator Fishing
Predator fishing lake, located close to Bangkok, Lure fishing (morning) / dead bait fishing (afternoon). The fish species to be targeted are mainly Arapaima (the lake has the biggest population of Arapaima in Thailand. Also many other imported and native Thai fish species.
Snakehead / Barramundi fishing
Lure and Fly fishing for Barramundi (Lates calcarifer )and Snakehead species (Channa micropeltes and striata) at Bang Na lakes which is a venue made of 4 stocked lakes, all located in the same area, at only one hour drive from Bangkok.
CARP / CATFISH FISHING
KP Lake is a great destination carp fishing in Bangkok, with plenty of different carp species to catch. Due to its distance from Bangkok we offer this as a 3 day trip and 2 nights in an upcountry hotel.
