Giant Siamese Carp (Catlocarpio siamensis)

The Giant Siamese Carp is Thailand's most prized freshwater fish species and one of the largest carp species in the world. Growing to weights exceeding 300 pounds (140kg), these magnificent fish are native to Thailand's river systems including the Mekong, Chao Phraya, and Mae Klong rivers.

Fishing techniques: Traditional carp fishing methods work best - bottom rigs with bread-based boilies, sweet corn, or specialized Thai baits. Bungsamran Lake in Bangkok is world-famous for Giant Siamese Carp fishing with fish to 200+ pounds caught regularly. Most anglers use 30-50lb tackle due to the fish's incredible power and stamina.

Giant Mekong Catfish (Pangasianodon gigas)

The Giant Mekong Catfish is officially the world's largest freshwater fish species with specimens recorded to 646 pounds (293kg). These critically endangered catfish are now bred in captivity at specialized fisheries in Thailand, providing anglers with incredible fishing opportunities while supporting conservation efforts.

Where to catch them: Bungsamran Lake Bangkok and Borsang Lake Chiang Mai stock giant specimens. Catfish fishing uses similar tactics to carp - bottom fishing with bread baits, pellets, or specialist pastes. Fish over 300 pounds are caught each season providing lifetime memories for lucky anglers.

Arapaima (Arapaima gigas)

Arapaima fishing in Thailand is on every serious predator angler's bucket list. These South American monsters are the world's largest freshwater predatory fish, reaching lengths of 10+ feet and weights exceeding 400 pounds. Their aggressive strikes and acrobatic fights make them the ultimate lure fishing trophy.

Fishing methods: Lure fishing with large topwater plugs, jerkbaits, and swimbaits is most exciting. Fly fishing for Arapaima using large streamers provides incredible sport on heavy tackle. Bait fishing with live or dead fish is also productive. We guide Arapaima fishing trips at specialized predator lakes stocked with multiple Amazon species.

Giant Snakehead (Channa micropeltes)

The Giant Snakehead is Thailand's most exciting native predatory fish. These aggressive hunters grow to 40+ pounds and are famous for explosive topwater strikes that test anglers' nerves and tackle. Snakehead fishing is pure adrenaline - watching your lure get smashed on the surface never gets old.

Best techniques: Topwater lure fishing is the preferred method - frog lures, poppers, and walking baits work excellent. Early morning and late afternoon provide the best topwater action. We offer multi-day jungle snakehead fishing expeditions to remote reservoirs like Srinakarin Dam where wild snakeheads hunt in pristine waters surrounded by jungle wilderness.

Barramundi (Lates calcarifer)

Barramundi fishing in Thailand offers incredible light tackle sport fishing opportunities. These silver predators grow to 30+ pounds in Thai waters and are prized for their spectacular aerial displays and hard fighting abilities on lures and flies. Barramundi are found in both freshwater and brackish coastal environments.

Where to fish: Bang Pakong River near Bangkok provides excellent Barramundi fishing on lures and fly tackle. Purpose-built fisheries also stock quality Barramundi. Use soft plastic lures, hard jerkbaits, or large streamers on fly. Early season (October-December) provides peak action before the hot season.
